A little studio with a big, calm heart

Two Moles is a warm sewing studio in Subang Jaya, run by Angela Pok. We teach sewing to absolutely anyone, whether you have never held a needle or you are looking to grow a real skill. Come for the craft, the calm, a thoughtful handmade gift, or simply a few quiet hours away from the screen.

Our students are all ages and arrive from every walk of life. In small, unhurried classes, we start from the very basics of hand and machine sewing, and guide each person at their own pace.

1960s

A grandfather, a needle, a new home

Angela's grandfather arrived in Malaysia from China knowing one trade by heart: sewing. He opened Shanghai Tailors in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, and a family legacy began.

growing up

The oldest tailor shop in town

Taken on by Angela's parents, Shanghai Tailors became one of the best-known tailor shops in the state, dressing dignitaries in their finest formal wear. As children, Angela and her five siblings grew up helping out, learning the craft stitch by stitch.

2019

The shop closes its doors

After almost four decades and the passing of her parents, the original Shanghai Tailors closed, its needles quiet for the first time in a generation.

Two Moles is born

Retired after more than 30 years in education, Angela felt the pull back to the craft of her childhood, and a wish to do something meaningful with it. She reopened the family trade as a teaching studio, naming it Two Moles after the two children who inspired her to pick up the needle again.

I have been sewing all my life. Once I retired, I had a desire to return to my childhood, and I thought, why not do something more meaningful?

A quiet kind of therapy

For many, a class at Two Moles is a weekly reset. As Angela puts it, no matter the project, the moment someone holds the finished piece in their hands, you can see the joy on their face.

I finally found my groove. Sewing lets my mind go numb, in the best way.

A Two Moles student

I usually spend a lot of time in front of a screen. Doing something with my hands is such a great break, and I can feel my confidence and coordination improve.
